1963, as he made a bold turn toward free jazz, his producers asked Coltrane to calm his ardor by returning to a more "traditional" jazz. The saxophonist then chose to invite jazz singer Johnny Hartman to join his usual quartet. Coltrane with a singer: a unique experience, but that was a great success! Japanese reissue with insert.
