Ken McIntyre - Year of the iron sheep - United Artists Records US 1962 1st press VG+/VG+

0 €
Ken McIntyre flirted with free jazz in the early sixties (notably in the bosom of Bill Dixon) without ever really taking the step to unbridled freedom. Indeed, he remained fundamentally attached to bop harmonies throughout his career, which saw him publishing records with Prestige, United Artists and Steeplechase. This record with its sublime cover is a perfect summary of what the saxophonist and flautist has of best in him: a music full of swing and spirituality, cheerful and carried by sidemen of high rank as Ron Carter, Ahmed Abdul-Malik, Jaki Byard, Louis Hayes or Ben Riley. If you like Yusef Lateef. Cover is EX.
